Hesitation Help Please?!?!?!

Lately when my car is warm I notice a hesitation from off idle to ~2400rpm. It happens all throttle positions besides just barely giving it gas...what i'm trying to say is if I give it a little gas...and I mean just barely...then it accelerates okay. Once the engine gets above 2400 rpm it runs fine...you can give it WOT and it pulls great. I've notice that the car doesn't really hesitate in 1st through 3rd gear but does in 4th-6th. I've been doing some research on here and it sounds like it could be the opti or a coil. Does this sound reasonable or could it be something else? Does anyone have any other suggestions on what do check. Thanks for your help guys!!! Oh by the way...the car is a 94 Z28 M6 with ~85,000 miles. Thanks again!

regardless of symptoms....do the cheaper work first (e.g. clean MAF, plugs, wires...)

Yeah, I am planning to go ahead and change the plugs and wires first then move to the coil. If these don't solve the problem I guess its on to the waterpump/opti replacement. I'm hoping it doesn't come to the opti but I have a bad feeling about it. Thanks again for the help.
