Hesitation and Backfire

Hey guys I have 97' T/A and my motor hesitates when I step on the gas, and stumbles. Also backfires when full throttle at high rpm's. Check plug wires all good, plugs are 6 months old, have new delteq and fuel pump. I have 96,000 miles on my car, what do you think I should look for?

Clogged fuel injectors?
bad fuel pressure regulator?
vacuum leak?

Re: Hesitation and Backfire

When did it start doing this, i.e, after doing something to the engine; before changing the plugs, opti, etc. Let's narrow it down. JMHO

Changed to delteq about 8 months ago, changed all plugs and wires then. Just checked plug wires last night, all good, check them for resistance of course not just an visual check. Fuel pump is about 4 months old. Haven't worked on the car in last few months.

Re: Hesitation and Backfire

Need more details.

Could be ICM and/or Optical sensor in Opti spark.

Or a huge list of other things.

check out this thread we are all working on a similar problem.
