how hard was it for u to remove the intake manifold...how much time did it take...would there be a noticeable performance difference by cleaning it out..i have noticed alot of black carbon and whatever inside of mine. Would it be worth takinf apart and cleaning out?

not unless you have an oil leak. your intake will get a lot of carbon in it but that sludge is probably a combination of the oil leak stopper and irregular oil changes.

How did you see under the intake with it on? I'm asumming u meant it the TB. If so just get some TB cleaner (TB cleaner, not regular old carb. cleaner, its bad on the O2's) and with the engine off open the TB and give it a good soaking a few times, should clean right up. As far as making it run better, might help smooth out the idle a bit, thats about it.

From some of the old timer mechanics I've heard them say "Oil is oil unless it's Quaker State". And what they meant by that was it really didn't matter what brand of oil you bought so long as it wasn't Quaker State. Supposedly Quaker State sludges up real bad or at least it used to. I'm pretty sure they have changed their formula though? Either way, he didn't happen to run Quaker State, did he?

Yeah, what Brent said.

Was it Q State or Penzoil.... I think we have a running bet going here.

Looks to me like the engine was run cold, either because the thermostat was incorrect, or because the car was driven very short distances, perhaps to and from a nearby workplace.
