HELP! What Type Of Sealant To Use On Gas Line/Finttings??

ok, where my fuel filter goes into the fuel solinoid leaks very slowly. over time it drenches the driverside valvecover and starts to smell like gas in the car. it's become a big annoyance.

now, i originally tried just teflon tape on the threads. that worked for a little while, then stared leaking again. next, i tried tepflon paste. same results. finally, i tried a combination of the two which lasted a little longer but still ended up leaking. i thought the threads could possibly be crossthreaded, but after thorough inspection, they check out fine.

i ran a entire fuel system on my old chevelle and used the tape with that and NEVER had a problem. so im baffled as to what i should use? anyone got any suggestions??

how about any of the RTV sealants?? the red/blue/black?

thanks in advance, jon

Don't know how much telfon tape you wrapped on it, but maybe you need more. Perhaps that fitting is just a "loose" one. If there is a flare to it, make sure there are no burrs or damage to it.

When you start talking about fuel filter and fuel solenoid, I assume you are talking about a fuel supply for a wet nitrous system??? What are the details of the connection.... -AN? ..... NPT? Obviously the -AN should not use any sealant. The typical Teflon tape should easilly hold the fuel pressure with healthy NPT threads. One of the parts if faulty and should be replaced. I personally wouldn't risk a fire. Putting more sealant on it isn't the way to go.
