help with vats +key won't come out of igition

help with vats +key won't come out of igition

hi, well i had the vats problem awhile back and now its doing it again i am not sure if the resistor is loose i am going to check but my question is about the key not coming out of the igition, when i turn the key it makes a churnching sounds and is really ruff turning also i already changed the igition switch (i think that what it was called) it was on top of the steering colom ect. if any one could help me out i would be greatful

Are you having problems with the ignition cylinder turning with the key in it? Make sure first off that the key you have is not worn. Overly worn keys can make the cylinder hard to turn. Basically, it acts like it's almost the wrong key, making it hard to turn. If the key is not worn, then there may be a problem with the lock mechanism internally. That would require replacing the cylinder.

Sounds like fun, I have the same problem, sort of. As long as I don't use the acc position I don't have any problems, though.

As a quick fix you could try some graphite lube and see if that smoothes things out a bit, it worked wonders on mine.

If that doesn't work, well, you'll just need a new key or a new cylinder- kinda sucks but not much else you can do...
