If they were soaked, then it either is getting WAY too much fuel.

Or it is not sparking when it should.

I am leaning away from the Opti now though. I think your problem is elsewhere. Double check all the sensors and make sure everything is plugged in.

As Injuneer stated, that sensor needs to be plugged in or it will run way to rich. How long have you been trying to test it with that sensor unplugged? That could easily be the cause of your wet spark plugs and over rich condition.

My GF's car ( Cougar) had a bad coolant temp sensor ( For the PCM, not Gauge) connector. It would run rich as hell and got pretty bad mileage for a smaller car. So its possible it could cause a no start.

i put a new senser in about a week before the car died could that senser cause the bogging when you give it throttle ????????

Re: help this thing won't run

Yes cause if it is reading -40*, it is already rich. You open the throttle up, the MAF reads more air passing by it, and that signal causes the PCM to lengthen the injector pulse width, making an already rich car get even more fuel. It could cause the bogging if it is a bad sensor.

It would really help if you can get it on a diagnostic scan tool to see what that sensor is reading. And also to check for any trouble codes, or readings that seem out of whack.

Re: help this thing won't run

Replacing the injectors will help if they are leaking fuel. That's very easy to check, by lifting the rails with the injectors intact, and pressurizing the fuel system (do not try to strat the car), and looking for drips.

Have you had it scanned for codes?

Have you checked the coolant temp sensor?

Do the injectors match the programmed flow capacity?

Re: help this thing won't run

I would recommend spending $90 on a cable from AKM Cables. Then you can load Freescan on your laptop and plug it into the car to get a look at exactly what the PCM is seeing and doing. It's much cheaper than trying to find a scanner, and it is also easily as functional, if not more functional.
