Help! TC P1415 - "Secondary Air Injection System"
Got an SES light about 2 days ago. Had it scanned at my local auto store today. Error code P1415. Guy running the scanner said it was the "Secondary air injection system, bank 1." He didn't really know what that was... told me I had to take it to the dealer. Could this be the A.I.R. pump acting up? Please help this rookie out. Thanks.
I'm pretty sure it is running. I think I heard it stop when I yanked out the relay. Doesn't the AIR pump system have a check valve? Maybe that is stuck closed. I think I'm going to rip this thing out. What are my options for having the AIR system programmed out of the ECU so I don't keep getting that stupid SES light?
Well... my SES light went away. Has anyone ever replaced the check valve in their AIR system. According to my Chilton manual, the valve sounded somewhat like a PCV valve. I thought maybe it was stuck closed. Anyone else have a problem like this?
Re: Help! TC P1415 - "Secondary Air Injection System"
Hello....I recently got this code as well. No help Autozone help could only tell me to replace the air pump. Is this the correct course of action? Been searching on line and the only things I can find on this is that yes its an Air issue...but for a noob...what is the simplest answer to fixing this, please? Anyone? Thanks in advance...
Re: Help! TC P1415 - "Secondary Air Injection System"
Bad advice from Auto Zone.
P1415 = AIR System Bank 1. This indicates that the PCM cycled the AIR pump, and did not see a change in the O2 sensor reading on Bank 1 (driver side of engine). That means that the AIR pump is working (assuming you don't have P0410 or P0412). But the PCM does not see an indication of the expected air flow into the exhaust system on the driver side. It indicates (assuming you do not also have P1416 - Bank 2) that something is interfering with the air flow. The most common problems include a melted hose on the driver side, a stuck check valve on the driver side, crimped metal tube, clamps off hoses.
