Also i took it to Autozone to get it scanned, the scanner would not read the car because the ses light was not on , if it was the plugs ,wouldn't the light be on constant?

AutoZone should be smart enough to know that once the SES light comes on, the trouble code is stored and can be "read", even if the SES light is not on. I suspect they didn't have the correct OBD-I scanner.... they only seem to do OBD-II in many locations.

Did you delete AIR? Is there a good fuse in the AIR system?

Did you delete EGR? OBD-I generally does not set a code, but it is possible.

Did you use "O2 extensions" and how good are they? Almost sounds like the sensor(s) is not staying hot enough.

There are no codes/SES lights in OBD-I related to "plugs" or misfires.

Not always will it come on and stay on. I have a Right O2 lean, and Right O2 fail light all the time. I use Datamaster so I can see it when it happens. If I am on the interstate cruising for a long time the light will come on, but if I vary my speed by about 5 miles either slower or faster it will go off. Then it comes back on till I cruise at that speed for awhile. I dont worry about it really, I just keep replacing it. For some reason a local parts store will warranty iy out for free. They keep taking them, I keep bringing them back.
I also have Jet-Hot Lt's.

Check ur smog pump. The SES light came on and I replaced that. Does it make any noise that sounds like a fan blowing really hard in the front driver side? If so, that's the pump. Hope this helps.

And your O2 sensors are in the collectors? Right near the ends of those open headers? You're going to have problems with the air mixing in with the exhaust in the collectors, cooling off the snesors and also making them think its running lean. At least if the O2 sensors are right near the end of the collector..

It's also possible that with absolutely no backpressure on the exhaust at all, the EGR flow is so low that even the lame OBD-I diagnostic is picking up a problem. The light will only come on when you are driving, since the EGR is only used under certain low/part load conditions. It isn't used at idle, so the light woudl go out.

Just a guess though.... no substitute for a good code scan.
