Help - Rod Rust (Need OpinionS)
First Off I spent nearly an hour searching this subject and was unable to find any relevant threads.
With that being said, I just purchased a set of new Eagle Forged H Beams.
When they arrived it was obvious that the seller had openend several of the rods and fingered them some time ago and put them away without cleaning them. They now have slight to moderate rust spots on several of the rods.
I took brake cleaner and a SOS pad to them and removed all of the surface corrosion but the dark spots remain ever so slightly.
What is the best approach? Is sanding off the surface rust sufficient or is a Bead Blasting and replating (cadmium or similar?) necessary?
There is no pitting of any kind, just the spotting. I'm curious to hear your opinions.
Any expertise hear is greatly appreciated?

They've never been used. Their is no need to resize them, I failed to mention the rust is not on the bearings.
I guess what I'm asking is what is the best method to clean them up, a bead or media blast. I have a friend who can do cadmium plating but I'm thinking that replating them would be overboard.
