Help Quick!! Clutch and Slave cylinder problems

Well after finally getting everything to the shop my mechanic finally got my Spec Stage II put in today and when he went to pull it off the lift he pushed in the clutch and all I heard was "CRACK" and then there was no pedal pressure! We got back under there to check it out and turns out that the slave cylinder broke (plastic POS)! Anyone know what could cause this? I need a new one, does anyone know if Auto Zone or Advance would have this in stock? Please I need my car back tomorrow! Thanks guys!!

Give one of your local auto parts stores a call...they should sell the slave cylinder for under 50 bucks.

Is there a chance he didn't have the clutch fork completely on the throwout? I've had it where I thought it was on but it wasn't fully seated on the T/O. When I pushed the clutch in it slipped off and it jammed the fork to the bellhousing.. had I pushed further on the clutch pedal I'm sure it would have busted the plastic thing.

Just a chance but that might have been install error.

MAN!!! I love this site! That is exactly what happened! I called him this morning and he told me that he found that the clutch fork had slipped off the throw out bearing and that's what cause the slave cylinder to break! I have a new one coming in sometime within the next hour or so! Thanks guys! Also does anyone know of a good method of bleeding the new slave cylinder?

If you bought it from GM its a complete kit and is pre bled.

Yeah thought so. Cool.

I usually get a long screw driver and turn the T/O until it's in the right spot. If it's not turned with the correct side facing the fork the fork feels like it's sort of in place but when you put pressure on it the thing pops off. When he actually gets it fully seated he'll know there's a big difference.

He musta really stomped on the clutch though because I've had it pop off and could tell right away something wasn't right.

Yea the whole kit is like 145 or something like that! The pedal doesn't feel as stiff as the stock one did, is this normal for the Spec Stage II or is there just air in the line or something?

thats weird cause it should feel just as stiff. double check everything. unless you have to bleed it, if so i would i go that route first.

It feels just as stiff when I first get in it in the morning then it starts to feel a little softer! Maybe there is a couple of air bubbles or something!

Similar thing happened to me when I installed my Spec Stage II. Fork wasn't on the T/O good and when I tried to push in the clutch pedal, i noticed it was stiff, but stupid me pushed it any way and POP. I broke the rod on the master cylinder that goes to the pedal though. Oh well...lesson learned.

Let me know how you like the Stage II. I am not really pleased with mine...way softer than I imagined. Curious to see how you like yours.
