my car is in the shop and the engine is getting torn down. somehow the flow of coolant to the engine got messed up and I blew 1 or both head gaskets. heads are slightly warped and have to be fixed. so my question is, I have $6-700 to spend over what they quoted me, $16-1800 to fix it all; what do I spend the cash on? cam? headers? H/C? ect?
some of that 16-18 includes a new wp since were in there anyways

 

GEEZ!!! I can do all that work for WAY less than that. If you got the cash to spend on that I guess it saves you time and everything. Do some headers. Bolt ons should always come first.

 

time is the big deal here. I take my brothers and i to school 20 miles away every day so until the car gets fixes my mom or dad will have to give us a ride. so i cant afford to have it out of commision for too long. i worked a deal out with my parents that they will foot the bill for repairs that would get the car back running as my graduation present and i am paying anything over that i add. ex. i pay for headers he gets labor since the manifolds are getting taken off regardless. if i can get my gun sold ill have about $400 to add to my budget. that would bring me to about $1000-1100.

when i pulled into parkingspace a cloud of smoke went past me and a puddle formed under each exhaust tip. temp gauge read normal for the entire 20 mile drive, oil pressure read good to. the coolant light has gone on and off the last few days but it isnt low, none leaking under the car before this.btw the water pump is getting replaced anyways so that accounts for some of the 16-18 quote
