Question Help please...Best way to drain coolant

I need to know the best way to drain the coolant from the block...I have just installed new opti and mezeire , and somehow I obtained an oil leak somewhere I changed the crank shaft , seal, and the opti seal, So I am guessing it may be the wp/ seal....So I am gonna have to remove every thing and investigate ...What would be the best way to drain the coolant from the block to minimize the chances of ruining the opti. And suggestions would be greatly appreciated.......Thanks Ben

I assume you know where the drain is on the radiator. Here is where the block drains are.

I just recently did a flush on my 94Z. I took out both plugs in the block and drained them. Then I drained the radiator using the little valve on back right hand side. After draining the block I put the plugs back in. On the right hand side you gotta take off the knock sensor wire, and then take off the knock sensor/plug...both incorperated into on. Then i took the thermostat out and put my hose in there. I took off the hose that goes to the bottom of the radiator off and turned the hose on and let it flush. I also flushed the radiator a few time. When the water began to run clear I put it all back together and drained the block one more time. Then I did a 50/50 water/antifreeze. Bleeding the system took a bit. Thats the way I did it, I've got about 2k on it since and it is green, seeing that it was brown when I drained it. Good Luck

well i always assumed that since dexcool is orange and you mix it with water.... that it should be brownish in color, and i thought you were supposed to use dexcool only.

I just ran Preston in mine and 50/50 with water. I don't know if I trust that red or orange stuff.

if your dexcool is turning brown you have a problem...this is what happens when the stuff sludges up. Heard many stories about dexcool plugging up heater cores/radiators/etc because of sludge.

IMO, flush it as best you can, replace with green stuff
