Help with picking a cam for a 383.
I'm building a 383 for the sole purpose of drag racing period. I don't care about anything other than making the most power the most efficently for the money I have to spend. Now with that said I'll give the lowdown on the combo so far. I have a forged rotating assembly which consist of 6in H beam rods, eagle 4340 crank, and JE flattop pistons that are suppose to yield a 12 to 1 CR. The heads are factory LT1's that have been ported a polished and flow 270@ .600 int and 227@ .600 approx. I don't have the flow sheet in front of me, and a ported LT1 intake. I will be using the GM PCM for the time being and want a cam that will peak around 6600-6700 rpm. I had first thought about going soild roller, but since I won't be able to spin past 7000 right yet I was considering going hyd roller. Give me your opinion on what might work for me, oh and by the way this is what I am considering.

It's a soild, and a 110 LS was what I had intented to run. I have alot of confidence in my engine builder and he has alot of experience with soild roller 383 LT1's, and besides if it's not right I'll just have to change it.

I may go bigger once I can afford a DFI, shaft rocker, and a killer set of aftermarket heads, but for right now I'm going to go with this recomendation because in six years he's never steered me wrong and I've won alot of races and championships.

Well it's a footbrake car and I only run the 1/8, so we're trying to make TQ and we feel we can do it better with a smaller cam. As for the 112 LS I was always told you really didn't need to go much narrower than that especially with factory EFI.
