help on o2 sensors

Just wondering :

i had an o2 sensor (front) that have died during the year. As i wasn't using anymore the rear ones, i just took one and put it instead the front one that was dead. Since that, i'm using my car without any problem ...

I've just seen a post telling the sensors are not the same at front and rear ? Is there a problem running sensors as I'm doing ? should i have to change sensors ?

How did you do that? The rear ones have different connectors to keep them from being interchanged.

i have to extend wires when i installed my Pace Setter LT so .... i just cutted the wires from the rear sensors as i've done on the front ones and put them instead.

Am I in trouble running like this ??? (even if happy with my 320 Rwhp) or should i buy new sensors ?

It's never a good idea to cut and splice the O2 wires. There should always be untouched wire from the O2 to its connector. What you do between the PCM and the connector realy doesn't matter. In fact it's not even recommended to put dielectric grease on the connector.

hum .... i don't know how to go to the LT without any extension to the wire. I had also to route the wires different way do do so.

Anyway : are the front and rear sensors same except connectors ?

It doesn't matter what you do to the wires from the PCM to the connector. Just don't splice from the connector to the O2.

But you can get extensions from Summit or Jegs.

They are different part numbers, but that may not be based on the connector alone. I don't know if there is a functional difference. You might be able to tell by doing a swap and comparison with a data logger.

I don't think gm would make 2 different part #'s of 02's and make them use different connectors for no reason, chances are there is more of a difference than just the connectors.
