Help! Need Opinions
was assembling the motor last night on the stand and snapped 2 of the optispark bolts.
Cant find them at the dealer
not sure if i should tap the timing cover
not sure if they snapped in the block or in the sleeve of the timing cover
need opinions on how to fix
ANYONE have these bolts????

You can find replacement bolts at any local hardware store. I'm not sure on the size or thread pitch but I know we had to do the same thing on a buddy's motor not to long ago. Pull the timing cover and oil pan back off and see how much you have to work with. Some vice-grips usually work nice, if it's too deep to get any on it, then you can try eazy-outs avialible at Sears but I've never had much luck with those. Last resort would be taking it to a machine shop and they can drill it out and put a heli-coil in for you. Last time I had to do that was on a Dodge 360 Intake and was about $35.

If your just assembling the motor and its already a new gasket, then no.
If not, then Yes you should. Its cheap insurance. Easier to pay the money now for a gasket than to pull the motor out once its up and running because it leaks

Yea shes a fresh motor
ill be changing my signature when it runs
i just dont wanna have to drag the motor back to the machine shop
all the seals and gaskets arebrand new
