Yeah I took it to Holeshot (down in chesapeake slopoke) he took one look at it and says blow by big time. She smokes under heavy acceleration and at start up. But the motor is dun. Im going to rebuild cause i dont have the cash flow to constitute a brand new motor. but thanks for the suggestions and if yall have any more keep them coming otherwise Ill keep you posted.

You guys must have ****ty dealerships. I'm a tech at a dealership, and the only customers I have issues with are the ones who continually bring their vehicle in complaining about something and either have nothing wrong with it at all or after I spend an afternoon figuring out what it wrong with they decline the repair, and I just spent the afternoon working for free. Trust me, I have some stories I could tell about ****ty customers.

And I have plenty i can tell about moronic grease monkeys working on my car. I had an idle problem and took it to the dealer and I had put a starter button under my dash and I informed them my vats wasn't working correctly and that there is a starter button underneath, so don't press the button and kill my starter if my security light stays on.

So they tried it and kept killing my starter because vats wouldn't let it run. So they thought my ignition switch was bad, not only did they remove my starter button, they replaced my ignition switch without me asking. Then when I came back to check up on the car they said they couldn't move it and if I can pick it up, I find out what they did and immediatley demanded they put it back to what was originally done then tried to charge me for it, I called my lawyer which happens to be a friend of the family and I got a free tow back to my house.

Never again will I let some stupid grease monkey touch my car, that was the last time a mechanic ever touched my vehicle, after that I was 100% DIY.

I'm a mechanical disaster myself, but on my car I have had blue smoke on deceleration which was valve seals. Black smoke under hard acceleration which is gas.

Blue smoke under heavy acceleration is normally oil.

Why are you wanting to "go after the dealer"? What is there to gain? Did they create this condition somehow? I am confused...

To my knowledge the dealer is supposed to disclose any engine poblems or any other problems with the car at the time of sale. When I bought the car my knowledge wasnt very good about the LT1, how it was supposed to run or anything. IT HAD A MISS WHEN I BOUGHT IT, but I did not know that at the time. Got the oil changed and it was started smoking its a@# off. So right away I thought they sold me a crappy car. I was right but the lawyer told me this morning since I signed the papers "AS IS" and then bought a extended warranty, there was nothing that the dealer was obligated for. SOL for me. And blow by is when your rings are dun and the oil blows by the rings on top of the piston and burns off. That is my interruptation anyone correct me if Im wrong. Whats a good price for a rebuild labor parts and machine work? $2k?

Ok ill see if i can correct the blow by deffinition. Blowby is the condition in which the pistons rings are worn and excessive combustion gasses "blow by" the rings. You will get alot of smoke out of your PCV valve hole in your valve cover if you pull the PCV out then start the motor. When operating as intended the pcv valve will allow the "bow by" gasses to recirculate into the intake and be sent through the combustion process and out of the exaust as apposed to releasing it into the atmosphere b4 going through the catalytic converters.

Thats the basic idea of blow by, what it is, where it goes, and how to check for it.

The deal with my car is that it sat somewhere for a long time its only got 14k miles and smells absolutely brand new but the tires when i got them were pretty much rotted out from sitting and not being aired up and i was thinking that maybe the valve seals dryed up... does that sound right?

The mech that checked out mine took the oil filler cap off. It looked like smoke signals coming out of it. His diagnosis was blow by and was proved by a leak down test of the cylinders. Before you do anything check the PCV valve! Mine is brand new but we still checked it.

That would be more of a problem with your service advisor than the technician working on the car. The tech has nothing to do with calling you and getting your ok for a repair, that's on the service writer. Another problem is taking your car to a "grease monkey" take your car to an ASE and GM certified mechanic, there are many awesome techs out there at various dealers. I'm still in school, so I won't have my GM certificates until I'm done but I'm working on finishing my ASE's right now. The tech who I currently work under makes well over 100k a year, and is one of only a 100 or so GM world class techs in the country, doesn't sound like much of a "grease monkey" to me.

That was paul young chevrolet in laredo texas, a certified dealer that hires certified technicians. I spoke with the technician on the job and the garage manager. So before you assume anything why not ask.

Back to the motto mentioned before:
NOBODY TOUCHES MY CAR BUT ME from now on. If I mess it up its my fault and I can only get P$%%#@ off at myself.
