i just put a new accel opti on my firebird and now im having a problem at 5500 rpms its like im hitting a rev limiter but mine is not there untill 6500. it ran good before the opti change with the exception of a slight miss but it still ran all the way to 6500 no prob. now i dont understand, can someone help me...

 

It would help to know the year of the car?
There were 2 different types of OPTI spark units.

sorry about that its a 94 but i have upgraded it and that was done a few years ago so it is now vented

 

Well the only thing's I can tell you is what happened to me.
Even through it's the sec gen OPTI spark you can install it wrong because I did it by accident.
Also you might have a wire or two plug into the wrong place.
The best thing I have learned when working on the OPTI spark is to install it and run the engine for a couple of seconds to make sure everything is OK before I put the water pump on and all the other stuff.
