The mcleod street twin is probably the best clutch you can buy.. it's just about twice that $600 figure you mentioned though

The spec/star clutch is a cheaper alternative that holds really well and runs about $450 - $550. Don't buy another dual friction, I've heard nothing but bad things about them and not just on fbodys - some of the import guys complain about them being garbage too .

Anyways, I run one of the old style stage III carbon disks and it's very streetable though it does take a good driver and a little getting used to. I consider it an anti theft device . The old style had a few problems problems - some even grenaded mine hasn't yet though :knocks on wood: no problems thus far and I've had it for a year or so. The newly redesigned clutch is supposed to be easier to drive and problem free, I've heard nothing but good things about it. Heck, the old style I have now has been a great clutch so far...

Anyways, thumbs up for star or mcleod.. I guess you can let you wallet decide what's best for you

Depends on if your gonna make your car a monster or a mainly daily driver. If your not gonna mod it much more then get an SLP clutch and PP. Or just get the spec. If I had the $$ i would get the Street twin for sure. BUt its alot of $$$$$$.

SLP clutch is great. Mine works perfect. Shifts like stock. Now "barks" the tires shifting to 3rd no matter what rpm im at goin to 3rd. Basically it feels like stock but grabs better. And is about the same price as a stock clutch is. I got my SLP clutch and PP for $320 shipped to my door. I believe you can find them for less now but im not sure. About a year ago my stock clutch went and i was debating clutches. After research and browsing around here about clutches i went with SLP. I have never heard a bad reply about the SLP clutch and PP. I think it holds up to like 400rwhp then i got a feeling its gonna slip. But for my mods....and soon to be 100shot. The SLP clutch will do awesome. You dont want anything that is gonna grab insanly hard anyway or you can kiss those 4.10's or rear end goodbye.

What do you guys think about using a resurfaced stock flywheel, SLP PP, and the Mcleod performance disk? (Tbyrne p/n 261871, about $130)

www.tbyrnemotorsports.com/lt1catalog.html

I hear it is a VERY good clutch but have never heard how it works with the SLP parts. I'm working on my M6 conversion right now and am also looking for a good clutch combo.

if your considering a flywheel get a twin. by the time you buy a flywheel and a clutch you've spent the same as the twin.plus you have to worry about it any more. go to the vender board most of them sell it for around $900-$1000.

The M6 conversion kit I'm getting comes with the stock flywheel and clutch so I'm just going to get it resurfaced and balanced the same as my A4 flywheel. The stock PP and clutch are going to the dump. The SLP disk seems good, but Mcleod makes very good clutches and would like to use theirs if possible. The ST sounds great, but I'm on a tight budget right now as the M6 kit cost quite a bundle.

New manual flywheels are crazy expensive too

TTT, I'd like to get some opinions on the Mcleod disk and SLP setup please. Getting awfully close to time to order the clutch stuff for the swap. I'm guessing I'll be the guinea pig on this set-up if no one has any experience with it.

i think u would be okay with that setup. i know someone who is running a centerforce disk with a SLP LT4 PP and it is holding up great. Do yourself a favor and do a adjustable slave cylinder mod too. it will prolong the life of your clutch. hope this helps

Im almost 300miles into my Spec stage 2 and I love it, it grabs hard right away and is as smooth as stock clutch. Talk to Gripenfelter, he has a buddy that hooked me up with the stage 2 for $389, $404 to my door..
