Help me pick a cam Please

Hi, I think I have a lifter ticking so i think I will just do a cam swap too. I have a 95 Z T-56 with a set of ebay ported and polished LT1 heads with 2.02 and 1.60 valves, headers and full exhaust, MSD 6a, cold air, stock TB with air foil, 3:73 rear, and a nitrous works plate kit. Right now i have a CC306 which i don't really like and before i got the juice and heads i had a hot cam that i liked. So i'm just looking for a few opinions on the next cam. thanks

I think after p&p heads you will come to like that 306 more... However without knowing the quality of the port work it's hard to tell how much better than stock you are going to be. Who did your tune on your 306? MadZ28 handled my tuning needs in the past and has done me really well. My bolt on Z28 was trapping 106 in the 1/4, with only Borla exhaust, Moroso cai, and 3.73 gears. I was quite impressed by the way the car ran, and would refer anyone to one of his tunes.

You may do all that and still have the lifter tick. I changed lifters and still have it on the same port (3 intake) I think some just have bad passages to certain lifters.

I already have the heads on, and i just think the 306 is a big number cam, they say to get the power out of the 306 I need to rev it to 6900rpm and i don't, I think thats to high for the stock 2 bolt bottom end. I rev it to 6300. I want more torque. I also had ion tune my car, never on the dyno, but he said i might get 15-20 horse on the dyno so i figured i would wait, his tunes are real good i think. I might just call lyod elliot for a cam, nut again any opinions are appreciated.

As for the tick, I'm just trying to eliminate things. It all started after i put the nitrous on with a button on the shifter ball. The problem was because of the wires in the ball i couldn't tighten it down all the way and it was loose. I was slammin gears and i got 2nd going for 4th, i caught it right away, but now it is ticking.

If you want more torque down low check out the numbers on the cam in my sig and try to find something close to that. I'm happy with it. Good luck on isolating the tick.

I like my 503 and from what i read it likes Nitrous. I'll let you know how it likes it in a month when I get it on, and working.
