So that damn oil leak i have is still leaking.
I stated before that i did not think it was in the bellhousing, but now i can not be certain. Sorry for the mixed info i'm giving :-
I pulled the bellhousing cover and there is DEFINATLY oil in there. There was a nice puddle sitting in the bottom of it, right around the hole in the bottom.
Now i have two theorys of what can be happening... check them out and tell me what you think makes more sense:
One, i think the oil is coming down from somewhere inside the bellhousing (cam plug, oil galley plug, rear main?) and sitting in the cover. When the flexplate turns it is throwwing the oil to the right side of hte cover and it is coming out of the bellhousing where the cover meets the starter. Thus covering the starter and back down the out side of the bellhousing.
Two, The oil is coming from an outside source such as the valve cover, or dipstick tube or something like that, and going into the bell housing cover where it meets the starter, as well as dripping down the out side.
Which one seams more logical?? Being that i sealed the **** out of the valve cover and don't think that is leaking and hae a brand new Lokar dipstick. Its no small leak. I lost probably close to a quart in 300-400 miles. In side the bellhousing definatly has oil, sitting in the bottom of the cover, and around the top within the housing, right about the torque converter.
