Help me. Name this so I can replace it.

Hopefully someone will be able to look at this photo and go "Dear lord, how does this guy not know what this is" and be able to tell me.

Photo

I recently had my dads friend replace my head gaskets (just in time too). But when he was finished he left this wire disconnected and it hit the exhaust manifold and basically burned in half. I am getting a check engine light and want to replace this wire. However I really am still new to cars and I can't for the life of me find this in my chilton manual or shop manuals. If you know the name and where the other end of this wire goes please reply. That way I can look it up in this huge manual and replace it.

The wire with the green line on it is the one that needs replacing.

Thanks for any and all help.

-George

The only green wire I know of on that side, goes here. The pic is not detailed enough for me to know for sure.

Oh sorry, I meant the wire I actually put that little green mark on with MS paint. I know its a bad shot but I dont have much else. I am not sure its even a wire. The ends are these black L shaped tubes that make me think it some vacumm tube.

Could be something for the AIR pump, some of the later ones had vacuum connections IIRC

Is it connected in the area where you have it circled in that picture? If not, it looks like the vaccum line that goes from the intake manifold to the EGR solenoid. It does have L shaped fittings on both ends. Is it attached on the other end to the intake manifold near the PCV valve?

that is the air pump solenoid, it is done on the cars that got the recall done at the dealer for the new airpump, its not a part that came on the car from the factory

Dam, that explains why I can not find it in my books. That helps a bunch. It gives me something to look for in repairing it.

Thanks

I didn't think it looked like a wire, but the pic was not very clear.

Does look like one of the AIR recall hoses as already mentioned.

Yeah. That photo is great and what I needed. The part in the middle bottom picture is the one I was trying to get a good shot of. Thanks

I'm going try around at local auto parts stores of the dealer near here and see if they have this.

just remove it and find the part # on it and go to a gm dealer

it just opens the air pump valve when the air pump is running only
