Help me with cleaning TB? Clean intake at all?

Taking off my TB and cleaning it along with the IAC. Have the 2 gaskets for the TB and the one between intake and TB.

First question, should I just clean the surfaces well and torque the bolts to spec with no sealant between them?

WHen I take off the TB should I clean anything inside the intake or spray anything to loosen things up?

Do I really need to drain the coolant to take off the TB coolant hoses or can I clamp them and do it? I am doing the TB bypass when I take off the TB to make things easier.

Would normal household oil do to oil the TB blade shafts after cleaning, if not what should I use?

Should I even bother cleaning the MAP since it has fairly normal reading at the moment? What about TPS?

1: No you do not need sealant for the Intake gaskets. Just tighten them down well. Be carefull not to strip the Hex nut on the IAC gasket.

2: Dont worry about spraying INSIDE of the intake...jes clean the TB off well...you're not really gonna clean the intake jes by spraying crap in there.

3: Go ahead and drain the coolant into either a milk jug or an old coolant bottle...make sure its nice and clean. Then you can re-use it and that way you dont loose any.

4: Never heard of using oil on the TB blades...jes clean them real well with your Crab cleaner

5: I wouldnt worry about your MAP and TPS..from what I hear its mainly the IAC that gets gunked up. Not positive, but I didnt clean mine.

Thanks for the reply. Guess I will just clean the gasket surfaces and not worry about the inside of the intake.

As far as oiling the blades I heard that after cleaning they may get stuck and be hard to open without a little oil on the shafts. I also heard that TB cleaner should be the only thing used and not carb cleaner because of some type of coating on the TB blades (but you can use carb cleaner for the IAC passages).

MAP and TPS I am leaving for now because they have normal readings from what I see, if it ain't broke I guess I should not fix it

As far as draining the coolant, I guess I will do that and change the temp sender for my dash gauge since mine is shot.

Thanks again!!

You can pinch the lines if you don't mind a bit of coolant spilling down from the TB cavity. Just throw some towels to catch it.
