Help me choose between these two
Help me choose between these two
Ok after doing alot of reseach I have come down to these two, This will be going on a stock bottom-end 95 LT1 with an 847 that has about 90k on it and doesn't want to be a member of the I spun my mains club, so here are the choices
Option A Moroso
Pan #20205
Oil control kit 23035, includes scraper, pan baffle and windage tray
Pump and pickup assembley 22135 HV vol pump (includes welded pickup ready for the pan I have listed and includes a new stud)
Drive #22070
Jegs High pressure spring(or white spring, which ever would give me the best pressure)
Option B Milodon
Pan # 30902
Crank scraper#32640
Windage tray# 32100
Pan baffle # 32500
Pump#18770 HV/HP 3/4 pick up(big block pump)
Pick-up#18301
Shaft # 23050
So which would fit better and do a better job for me, I really would like to use a HV pump due to the mileage on the engine and how high I spin it at the track, the better pan should keep the sump wet. I am kind of partial to the moroso package as it is all welded and ready to in, the Milodon set up I would have to set the height of the pick up and **** around with that all with the engine in the car. I think I like the Milodon bigblock style pump better as it seems to be sturdier, but I have good reveiws of the moroso pumps as well. Would I need a pump support? Also I want to use my stock tray hardware to keep costs down and to keep from disturbing my bottom end. I know there are the canton's and stef pans but realistically they are out of my budget. Thanks for the info and advice.
Is there a sponser that carry's these? Or is summit or jegs the best prices for these?

Re: Help me choose between these two
Either will do just fine. It's whatever ya want. The HV pump is fine also and I recommend it.
Been ysing BB pumps in small block's since the '60's with no problems. Ya don't need a pump brace or support.
Ya can get a pump from Melling or most anybody, assembled with the pickup and brace already installed. Just put the pickup no more than 1/2" from the bottom of the pan. Ya can check it with a ball of clay on the pickup (metal part)(lay on wax paper as to not get clay in the screen). and lay the pan on it(push down).
Then measure the thickness of the clay.
Don't let anyone talk ya out of the HV pump.
The weak link to the bottom end is your rod bolts and the big end of the rod. With repeated 7000RPM's they distort and let the brg spin.

Re: Help me choose between these two
OK thanks for the info, so you thing the Milodon set up? with the Bigblock pump? I was really leaning toward the moroso as it seems there are more postive feed back and I won't have to weld anything, it alos is about $100 cheaper
Re: Help me choose between these two
Do not use a high volume pump. Unless you have a high reving racing engine you will sacrifice heat by placing all the oil at the top end and heating it up. The standard volume pump is MORE than adequate. You obviously won't be reving that high using a stock bottom end.

Like I said been using that set up for years.
Re: Help me choose between these two
Great, I got a complete quote and the moroso is about $10 cheaper so it really is a toss up, would either of these pumps benefit from being blueprinted? Anyone know how the Moroso fits?

I use the BB pump right out of the box. Can't say about the other.
