I'm happy with my HOTcam. If you get the HOTcam kit do a good set of springs instead of what it comes with. The guy that did my machining and set up my heads refused to use the springs that came in the kit.

I would either go hotcam or 224/230 to me the hotcam and cc305 are to close to eacho ther to justify me paying the extra $$ for the cc305. I was going to go 224/230 but then i got heads then i decided to go with the 230/236 which is streetable. I have rode in Turbo_z's car and he can put in in gear and just let out on the clutch and the car takes off and will just idle along with no cam surge with stock gears. His cam is also on a 110Lsa so i am sure a 112 would be even better. For stock heads i see the 224/230 as the only option i would even consider.

I had the same obvservation (zz3, crane powermax, ect) and debated a custom grind but in the end decided to go with what comp had developed for stock headed cars, the 218/224 but on a 111.

so how much more horsepower do you think you could see if you had a good set of heads on there with that setup?

My question is: Considering use of stock programming, and stock stock stall, and use of my gears for instance(2.73's)....which cam is more streetable and gets better milage, the 305 or hotcam. by streetable i mean makes the most power under 2500 rpm and has the least cam surge????? Don't get me wrong i still wanna run the hell out of it, but it my daily driver as well...... thanx

How does the TPIS ZZ-9 cam stack up to the cc305 & Hot cam?

if your going to go through the effort of installing a cam I'd consider something other than the hotcam (too small), especially if you're doing all the other boltons your considering.

First ...your gonna need to reprogram your pcm to get both optimal preformance and minimize surg. The cc305 has very little surg because of the 114 las. Niether cam makes good power till you hit 2500 rpms.

so your saying that the cc305 has less cam surge then the hotcam on stock programming? Also, which do you think get better milage, the cc305 or the hotcam, i guess the difference is probably negligable at best huh?

i have the cc305. i love the cam. drives like a stock car but definitely doesn't run like one. last time i took the car on the highway for a long trip it got almost exactly 300 miles on one tank. that was including making 3 dyno pulls. the car dyno'd 324rwhp 319rwtq through Edelbrock shorties, 3.73s, 2400 stall, stock injectors, and stock throttle body. i've since added long tubes, 52mm tb, and 24lb svo injectors. i'd guess the car is probably somewhere near 345-355rwhp right now. the heads have been cleaned up a bit and had a 3 angle valve job. the shift points are set at about 6300 and the car is still pulling hard when it shifts. for anyone who wants a good daily driver, i would recommend this cam highly. my wife drives the car once in a while with absolutely no complaints, and thats even with a shift kit in the tranny. i haven't had many good passes at the track in decent weather. the numbers in the sig are the best so far but i think those will dip down to about 8.1s or so when the weather gets a bit cooler here. 100+ degrees doesn't help these cars much.

my buddy went 12.28 on a hot cam, slicks , shortie headers, most bolt ons, no head work, he had his intake and exhaust valves ported though
11.33 on the bottle

doesn't comp make a 306 also?
i'm going with the hotcam,
