help me build my engine

alright, i want to build my baby (1997 SS M6/75k miles stock except for tb bypass).
heads, cam, fuel system, exhaust.
i am just trying to figure out stuff for the engine right now will work on putting hte power on the ground later... i am looking at around 400-450 rwhp and then on top of that would like to run a 125-150 shot of n20. It must run off of pump gas. and is a daily driver. really would like not to go over 5k but there are exceptions. so lets see some systems... and another thing i live in Gainesville, FL so if anyone knows of some great lt1 shops around the state let me know of those also. Thanks

5k will maybe build a longblock, but no way in hell you can budget that much for a complete car buildup.

exhaust is going to be at least 500
top end is gonna be 2500-3000
nitrous 1000 easily if you want to be safe
fuel system at least 500
shortblock 3000+

i thought to get 400 rwhp all i had to do was get new heads/cam, beef up fuel system, intake, and get long tube headers.
alright lets leave out the n2o but keep it in thought. what heads and cam would you run? to make that type of power?

my fault, i thought you wanted a complete motor, but the bottom end eventually will give out under nitrous use.

any good set of heads and a healthy cam will give around 400hp

a good set of ported heads and a 230/236 or cc306 would get you close to what you need. If you got lots of money for heads talk to phil at advancedinduction.com he is the best.

www.cmotorsports.com

$5000
safe
450rwhp NA
daily driveable

... your top end will cost that alone. Then you need insane amounts of money in the drivetrain, safety for the drivetrain, bottom end, nitrous and suspension or at the least chassis improvements.

I highly suggest having a professional build you the correct combo. 450rwhp is fast

or just get an LS6 and add a cam

that isnt gonna help you get your engine designed either.

i think trey was high when he said 5000 for a top end. no way in hell it'll cost that much.

I'd say, put $2500 into the bottom, then $2500 into forced induction... Turbo

$2500 probly would be scraping the tip, but would get you well on your way, Jordan Musser is selling his T-66(900hp) for $1500, a grand could get you headers, injectors, piping, intercooler and BOV if you look in the right places.

There was a used 383 kit on eBay for $400!
