Re: Help with Low Vacuum Problem?

The 93 style intake PVC system isn't causing your issue, just means you need to check for vacuum leaks in the U shaped tube that provides vacuum to your PCV.

Re: Help with Low Vacuum Problem?

I replaced the U shaped tube today, with no luck.. I mean does everyone agree that my car should be idleing at about 50 kpa, and not the 63-67 kpa its at right now? I mean I dont want to be chasing a problem that is not there...

Unless your compression is not what you think it is...

Are the rings broken in yet?

Did ya check the lifter adjustment?

no the compression is what we think it is. The rings are broken in. I readjusted the rockers with 1/8th turn past zero lash..

Re: Help with Low Vacuum Problem?

Bret please chime in and tell me how much vacuum this cam and setup is suppose to make, so that I dont chase a problem that is not there...

also does 30° of timing at idle seem to low? Perhaps im losing vacuum there?

Re: Help with Low Vacuum Problem?

If the cam is timed wrong, that can do it. If you suspect a valve, connect an analog vacuum gauge and look for the needle bouncing. If it bounces, disconnect the coil, open the the throttle body blades and listen while someone cranks the car. If you hear a woosh sound, it is an intake valve staying open. You can listen in the exhaust or feel the exhaust pulses to see if it is an exhaust valve.
