help.. lean on bank 2

ok 97 ss with slp shortys and i had an ses light (code p0174) saying i am lean on bank 2....i recently failed smog with nox through the roof so i believe i really am lean...also i have noticed my engine oil temp(have gauge) increases rapidly hitting 210-220 degrees when the coolant temp is only 170. i have checked fuel pressure and it is normal at 44psi and raises to 51psi as throttle goes up at idle...now the rear o2 sensor is stock but the upper in header o2 sensor is a bosch and has about 1,500 miles on it..i cleared the code and no ses light but when i scanned it showed the same code without the ses light.. what should be my next step....also my egr is only 2 years old and is functioning....thanks guys

Re: help.. lean on bank 2

Their are two things you can do. Some say that cleaning the MAF does the trick since sometimes it gets dirty and will cause that DTC. I would replace the O2 sensor with an AC Delco O2 sensor. For some reason the Bosch O2's don't like our cars that much. Hopefully one or the other should clear up your problem.

Thanks,
Anthony

Re: help.. lean on bank 2

The code sets when the long term fuel correction average (and weighted average) exceeds the acceptable limit. You might want to look at the long terms on both sides of the engine, to see if it is a possible problem on both sides (with Bank 1 close to but not exceeding the limits), or only on one side as indicated by the code. Then look at the long terms for a wide range of cells, to see if there are particular combinations of engine load and rpm where the problem is more evident. That can sometimes point you in the right direction.

Re: help.. lean on bank 2

update : ok here is what i found . my mass air was dirty so i cleaned it and while i was there i noticed my IAT was pulled allmost all the way out so it wasn't even in the airs path..i don't know why i had missed something so obvious.. i guess i had o2 sensor on the mind...anyway my engine oil temps have gone back down to normal and the car is back at full power... so i assume that i am not lean anymore .....? anyways no SES yet .. i guess i'll have to get scanned before i get smogged..would the IAT being pulled out have anything to do with going lean or just the dirty MAF??.thanks for the help guys...
