You can pay the dealer to completely tune it up if you have about $7-800
Or you can do it yourself for $100 (depending on what you change). Don't worry about the cap and rotor, this engine does not have a cap and rotor in the traditional sense. The distributor is behind the waterpump, costs well over $200 and doesn't need to be replaced unless it's going bad. So basically you can replace the wires, the plugs if you're **** (since they were replaced less than 40k ago), fuel filter, air filter, maybe PCV valve..... Hell, just whatever you want to change.
I will warn you, changing plugs and wires on these cars with the stock exhaust is a major son of a *****. That is why the dealer charges so much.

i spent around 80 bucks just for taylor wires and ngk plugs. my opti was already replaced so i left it alone. to change the thermostat, take off the the intake elbow from the TB and air filter element or cold air intake if you have one. you'll see the thermostat housing then. drain the coolant (atleast some) and unbolt the housing. then pop the old one out and pop the new stat in. be sure to keep the rubber o-ring.
fastzin said it right. if you don't have headers, be prepared for a PITA job replacing plugs.
