HELP: I'm about to blow up this car.

Have a 97 Z28 with a hundred thousand on it.
Was getting a code(and running like crap), took it to the shop and they told me it was missfiring. Would need new opti, sparkplugs and wires. Got the parts myself from Jason Cromer (thank God).
After installing all the above they call and tell me my problem is my fuel injectors. After installing them they call and say I have a bad EGR. after installing the EGR they call and say I have a intake leak.
Now they have done all of the above for $880 (which I do think is a good price because besides all the labor, they put in and supplied 30LB injectors and the new EGR).
At a 100,000 miles most of what they replaced probably would have given me problems in the near future.
BUT HERE IS THE KICKER. I went to pick it up today (after 5 days in the shop) and it was throwing a code. The guy showed me it was a MAF reading that was bad. He said they got it wet cleaning up after themselves and it would probably go away in a few days.
I get home and I notice the bellows has black electrical tape on it.
I Know they tore the bellows question is if this is leaking, would this give me a code of a bad MAF sensor.

Well, if you have a torn intake elbow, you need to call Jason and get a new one (get a 1LE). Then, re-evaluate your code. After all the stuff that shop tacked on to your bill, I am surprised they did not do the elbow, too.

I'm still trying to figure out the "got it wet" thing. Are you sure you want these people working on your car?

First thing is get yourself a scanner. That way you don't have to take it to a shop everytime a code appears. Don't get to discouraged though. It took me over 1 1/2 months to fix my misfire issue, and to make my damn SES light go away. Also i would recommend that you learn to work on the car yourself. If they scanned the car then it would show all the codes it was throwing out not just one at a time. All the work they done you could of done. But it just takes some time and patience. It would of saved you money that could of been used for other mods. As for the leak i'm not sure it would throw a code or not. But i don't think so. But i know depending on how bad the leak is it would make your car miscalculate the amount of air your getting so your car would probably run wrong. I would go ahead and get yourself a 1le elbow since the stock one is broke. If it doesn't go away then i would go back to them and have them replace your maf since they probably messed it up by getting it wet. Good luck on the car.

You're right about doing the work myself, but after 4 back operations I'm totally disabled and can't do it myself anymore.
Besides I think its time to sell the Z and hang onto my Formula.

Sorry to hear about your situation. The next best thing is to find a shop that does good work for a reasonable price.
