help identify heads

Just wondering if anyone here could help me identify these heads, mainly as aluminum vs. iron, but also if they're the stock heads or not since I was told this motor has been rebuilt.

Outside of driver's side head: 75381A
Inside of driver's side head: 8337 and 10207043
Inside of passenger side head: 8337 and 10307623 (kinda hard to read)

Thanks.

If you cant tell by the color, take a knife and try to scrape some material off, if it is cast iron, you will not be able to.

If you split the difference of those numbers, they may have been read incorrectly(sometimes the numbers look similar) You can get a:

10207643...94-96...350..........Gen.II LT1, aluminum, reverse
flow cooling, 175/68cc port volumes

Which is correct for a camaro lt1

Re: help identify heads

A real quick and easy way to distinguish iron from aluminum is with a magnet. If it sticks, it's iron, if not, aluminum.

Well the ouside looks like aluminum, but the inside looks like a copper coating or something. I'm pretty sure I read the driver's side correctly, the PS was more difficult. I'll try the magnet thing later, didn't think of that and it's so simple.

I'm sure they are aluminum, that copper color just means that someone has been using pennzoil crap in that motor, it always leaves that residue behind.

Re: help identify heads

Get a 3/5 gallon bucket of carb cleaner(soaking kind) and brush some on the head and stand one end in the bucket, after an hour or so flip it over and do the other side.
The stuff is expensive but they will look like new.
