Unhappy Help!! Have no clue what wrong with my car!

Alright i have a 1994 Camaro z28. Before winter comes i had to get my radiator flushed because i had pretty much just water in there. I took it to firestone to have it done. I get my car back and i started it up and it backfired like crazy and it was really really rough running! So i took it back and complained about it for awhile and they finally gave in and said its probably the wires we'll do that free for you. So i had them do plugs and wires. Get it back and still really rough and backfires like crazy. Theres also no power whats so ever. So now i have no clue what it could be. I was thinking Optispark? They told me the first time they hosed off the engine and that the spark plugs were wet. Im thinking when they hosed it off they got the opti. I dont want to get a new Optispark though if its not what i need. What is the number one thing that will always happen to know if a Optispark is bad? Could i have a different problem? HELP PLEASE!

It is very possible they drowned the opti. A wet opti will cause the problems you're having. Sometimes the opti will resume proper operation after a few days of drying.

Is the SES light on?

yep..they probably soaked your opti. If the engine was pretty dirty/oily, that's probably in there too and while the water may dry out, anything else that went in with the water will stay. I'd raise hell and try to get compensated but I certainly wouldn't have firestone install your opti.

No there is no SES Light on which confused me because i thought it comes on when the Opti is bad. So is there a chance that the Opti is still good? Just needs to dry? And I did raise hell with them the firs time. Firestone ended up giving me wires for free and doing the spark plugs with no labor so i paid only 60 bucks and i needed new spark plugs eventually. But im done with firestone, if the opti is bad ill do it myself. Hopefully i dont screw up though!

Opti doesn't always kick the SES light. It's the opti. Buy you a new one.

Ive seen him post a lot to and Ive also seen you ask for your cable many times. he prob is some pathetic ******* if he hasnt had the courtesy to at least tell you your not getting it back. Talk to the admins have them ban his IP address and forewarn others of this thief. Last thing we need is another member getting screwed by some punk.

Holy Cow. Well, since I use this board a lot, feel I help others out when I can (with my limited but growing knowledge of my car), let me set the record straight, Dave.

I just responded to your pm, unfortunately it was before I read this post or the tone of my reply may have been a bit different.

I saw I had a PM from you today when I was at work on my phone but for some reason I can't seem to read them (I get a notification when I sign in that I have a pm but I cannot get to the msg area on my phone). And the ONLY other post that I got from you was a week or so ago, telling me a friend of yours had a used cable for like fifty-something. You did not say you needed the cable back right away in that post. And that's it, those were the only two I got from you until this. I don't see it mentioned that you didn't even call me or anything... I've called you a few times about the cable so I would imagine you have my #. That being said, I'm not a thief, nor am I a punk, but thanks for that Chaos. I had no intentions of stealing your cable Dave, I've been working very late nights for some disaster recovery exercises we're doing at work and I was on call last week, which is a nightmare for datacenter support. I'm sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I had planned on taking a drive out to your place some time this week like I offered in the PM I sent a few minutes ago...but I really have no interest in doing so after what I just read here. PM me your address in case it's not still in my nav, and I'll ship it to you as soon as I can..if not tomorrow, Friday.

As for the heads early this spring Dave, my apologies. I did want them, but my Septic AND leech field **** the bed completely, and with 5 kids and a hobby car, that sort of had to come first. I ended up just doing a straight head gasket repair instead of upgrading the heads, because after dropping almost ten grand on the unexpected septic crap, upgrade hopes went right out the window. Didn't really want to go into this much DETAIL on my personal life, but like I said, I wanted to set the record straight. And sorry for taking up this thread with this crap...but I'm just responding to an attack on my reputation, which I don't take lightly, even online.

They def wet your opti!!! So its back firing and feels like it has no power. You could wait like three or four days to let it dry out and see if it runs again back to normal, If not then you need to change the opti.

Well then my apologies. You know how it goes. When you can't seem to get a response (I had sent a PM and also posted to another thread you'd just posted to), you suspect the worst.

I've had experience with the 'surprise' septic field replacement. Major expense with no warning.

I had looked for you phone number in my cell history of received calls but didn't see any 518 area code calls in my Texas based Cell phone. I don't get any local calls other than my family typically so 518's stand out.
I sent my address to you via PM. I will also delete my primary responses on this topic.
Thanks,
Dave
