Help, Hatch lid will not close

Help!
My hatch lid will not close, the lock is in the open position. After hitting the motor i heard a wierd noise and I was able to close the hatch.
When I wasnt able to close the hatch. The lock was in the open position. When I hit the hatch release button i just hear a click of a relay...
What could be the problem? Could it be the release motor?

Thanks!

Maybe some silicone/grease spray the mech itself and a dab of white grease on the catch part. Even WD-40 will loosen stuff up, but it usually doesn't last as long as a little grease. JMHO

If the solenoid is working (clicking) then it may be that the mech is just not responding. That's why I thought it might be the mech.

Mine did this a while ago. It turned out my motor was bad. Just a thought.
