HELP!! Dipstick tube broke off in the freaking block!!

My friend Brian bought his first f-body and we were installing headers on it. We got the manifolds out no problem, and I went to remove the dipstick tube so we could get the passenger side header in. I took the bolt that holds the flange to the block off, and proceeded to pull the dipstick tube out. I got it up about a half inch, and i was wiggling it just a little (and like I always have, I've pulled many many dipstick tubes in my time) and the damn thing snapped off right below the ridge!! The rest of the tube is stuck in the block, and poor Brian is freaking out. What is the best way to get it out? Thanks guys. -Mike

P.S. It's a 96 Z28, if that matters

Ummm if it came up some(witch you stated it did) then clamp a needle nose vise grip on it(one of the jaws INSIDE the tube) and pull it the rest of the way out...

Thread a self tapping bolt into it and pull it out would be the easiest way that I've found

I dunno, but can you drive it into the pan with a pipe/tube and then remove the pan and retrieve it? Just a thought.
