Help choosing next mod...

I have a 94 LT1 A4 with 2.73 gears. I have already added a K&N and flowmaster muffler. I need help deciding what my next mod will be. I'm either going to do the LT4 knock module, shift improvement module, air foil, and MAF all at the same time....or I will be swapping to 3.73 gears. Which path do you think I should take? Thanks.

You won't see any gains from anything except the gears.

You only need a KM if you think you're getting false knock. Airfoils are useless. Your stock MAF is fine. I'd go with a real shift kit and the gears if I were you.

by "did a K&N " you mean you changed only teh filter? if so, my guess would be to get a "true" "cold air kit". like the K&NFPK. something like that. the type where you remove all the stock plastic intake tubing and replace it with a better flowing one. from what i see on here, that and exhaust are great begginning mods for our cars. hth

From that list, ditch the first option and go with the gears. Gears and a torqe converter are the best difference makers. Night and day difference. Forget about the MAF, airfoil, and elbow. That's a scam from parts makers to get your money IMO. C' mon, 50$ for a small aluminum piece that cost a 2 bucks to make? Go with gears.

Unhappy

sorry i wasn't too clear. I have a K&N FIPK (not just the filter) and a Flowmaster 80 series muffler. I decided not to get a full catback because I love the stainless dual/dual exhaust tips I got from fasttoys.net. Alright, so now that I know I need some gears, how much improvement do you think I'll find with 3.73's vs 2.73's? 0.5seconds? How much is a fair price to pair for them installed? I've been quoted between $1200-$1400 from 3 separate shops. Sounds ridiculous.

.5 seconds is askin a lot from a 2.73 to a 3.73. I dont think that you will see that much of a gain...if you can actually put it down and get some good traction, you could probably see at best .4. After that go for the torque converter and a tranny cooler. Total difference...it will be incredible the difference you will feel. Also go with the transgo shift kit...you will need that with the torque converter. Trust me.

There is a guy near me in Palatine, Illinois that does gears for 600, that includes everything, purchase of gears and install. Now that is cheap!!!!

I paid 300$ for my gear install, but they whine. You'll like the gears though.
