try checking the ignition fuse in the box......mine did the same and replaced the 10 amp with a 15 amp....never had the problem again!

was the fuse burned out or anything, or did you just replace it. how did you come to the conclusion that the fuse was the problem? i'll double check it and get back in a few minutes.

My car did this, and at the time it was the coil, it would die, and would not start back up. Them are my .02 cents, but id listen to others before me.

My Formy has done this a few times. My connector to the Opti is cracked at the tab that keeps it from backing out. If I push it down with the tip of a screwdriver, then the car will fire right back up. I should just replace the damn thing, but being a basically lazy person, doing that every 120 days or so doesn't seem like too big of a deal.

But it's on my "to do" list for the next time I'm down in there for something

Re: help, car turned off for no reason while driving?

well i checked the coil for spark and it was o.k. then i turned the car without the MAP sensor. so i connected it back on(MAP) and the car started and idled the way its supposed to. left the car on for like 10 min to see if it turns off and nothing, so i drove around the block and like 10 seconds after the car just died. let it sit for like 3-5 min and it turned back on, so i left it idling and just called it a night. when the car was idling the coil was arcing pretty bad and got worse if i turned the throttle with my hand. i dont know what might cause this and im thinking that the ICM is f*<ked up. cuz everytime i let the car sit for a few min it turnes back on in an instant. the fuel pump sounds strong and everything else checks out. any ideas??

oh BTW the coil is a brand new MSD Blaster unit and have replaced it two times. also had 2 new stock replacement coils as well. so i can rule that out since all these were replaced within the last month or so.

everything checked out fine coil, ecm and all but the damn connector that goes to the coil wasnt going all the way in. since i have a dual connector one side was alright and the other was 1/2 way in, so when i made a sudden turn or stop the connector would come loose.

Re: help, car turned off for no reason while driving?

Mine shut-off twice while I was driving on the freeway, luckily It started back up while still moving. I plugged in my code finder and 16 came up which is an ignition problem, like low resolution or something.. I replaced the opti like a year and a half ago and was wondering if there's some problem with the ignition part where you put the key in to start it, or should I just replace the harness connector that goes into the opti?? I don't want to go through all the trouble to replace the opti again.. its frustrating since I need to get to work and don't want to be on foot again! would be gratefull for any advice, thanks

If it is the ignition switch then you can find illustrations on the component location and some tips from Shoebox. Go here -> http://www.shbox.com if you want take a look. Good luck and tell us how you make out.
