HELP!! Car shakes when letting off clutch

When sitting at idle, I don't detect any problems, it actually seems smooth at right around 1k. But when in gear, 1st or reverse, the more I let off of my clutch pedal, the more the car shakes/shutters. I only drove the car a few yards back and forth when I noticed it.

More than a month ago, I had adjusted my mcleod adjustable master cylinder to where the clutch pedal was set only a few inches from the ground. I only did this because that was the only place I could set it without receiving a horrible grinding noise once depressed (even the mcleod tech was stumped). But since leaving the pedal at that mark, the idle and response seemed smoother. But in the last couple weeks of barely even using my car, the stuttering or shuttering has seemed to get worse.

My plug wires are attached fine, the plugs don't look too bad (there is a little discoloration), original opti and coil (103k), no oil leaking from the fpr. MSD wires, NGK plugs both at around 20k. Could someone please help me, the car troubles are mounting up

Is this tranny related since it only happens when I drive in gear? I feel like it's possible since adjusting the clutch master cylinder is the only thing that I've changed in months.

I read that it's typically not opti related when issues happen at such a low rpm. Plus, my plug wires are all connected.

Actually, I also adjusted my driver side rockers the week before so the clacking would go away, and it did. But the problem seemed to be starting before I adjusted them, just not as bad.

I guess I could clean the oil buildup around the coil and surrounding area.

Any similar experiences out there?

I'm guessing that you need to back off that adjustment so the clutch doesn't engage so close to the floor. That's what I would try first.

Thanks for replying Janny.

Well the only reason why i did it was because it stopped the wicked grinding noise when I pushed the clutch pedal in. The grinding stopped, plus, the idle and throttle response felt better than ever. However, this jerking of the car at low loads in first and reverse just began the other last week, not upon having messed with the adjustable MC.

Anyone else??

Ah! Jerking at low loads. I thought you were talking about plain clutch chatter. In any case, I can't really help you there, but if it makes you feel better, I have the same problem. I think it might have to do with cam surge in my case. I just avoid going that slow, but you are right that is a pain in the butt.

My 96' was making the same noise with the clutch pressed and I tore the tranny out thinking it was the t/o bearing but all it turned out to be was that the clutch arm had came loose! But as far as the other problem

96YenkoClone--I sent you an email

YOUNGGUN96--I thought it could be that issue with the clutch arm as well but I believe the mcleod guy said that wasn't the case, even though I still believe it to be a good possibility.

I will check out the car more tomorrow.

I appreciate the help.
