Help, Car is running like crap!

Well I was overseas for a month and my car ran fine when I left. I drove it to Arizona and it was fine all the way there until I hit rush hour traffic. I noticed it surging at lower rpm so I thought maybe the fuel filter was bad. Changed that. Still runs the same. Well I drove back to California a couple days later and now it's worse. It idles lower and surges and misses real bad now. The car has 103,xxx on it with the original opti. I change the plugs and wires about 45k ago. I'm going to change the plugs this weekend. What should I gap them at since I'm using the Accel 300 ignition box? .050? I really hope I don't end up blowing alot of money if it is something easily fixable. I'm going to start with the cheap things first and keep going until it's fixed. Any suggestions on what it could be?

I would change the plugs and see what that does.If its still running bad my guess would be the opti.

Any codes?

Also, check for any open lines or hoses past the MAF for leaks. Could be an intake issue.

Bad ATF could also affect decel and idle.

A bad MAF or TPS could affect it too.

No codes. No SES light. I hope it'sw something simple. I checked the intake ducting and it all seemed tight. Find out this weekend ig it's the plugs. What is the best plug wire out? Was thinking of changing the wires to otvc and running the MSD wires. Are the Taylor wires better?

I'm running the Jacobs with no problems. Most seem to be running the MSDs. I had a problem on the Left Bank (Passenger Side) getting the wires up and around the power steering pump and into the factory grooves. This didn't work out at all with the 8.5mm wires. I bought some conduit and wrapped about 9 inches on each wire and routed them behind the brace directly at the plugs. This will restrict any rubbing/chaffing.

MSDs are good but I've had a few problems with the boots deteriorating past 2 years. They do work well.

Woohoo! Changed the plugs and coil and she's running like a champ again. I should change the coil wire though. Still have the stock one. Can I buy just the coil wire from MSD or any other place?

Yes, get a quality Coil Wire since those seem to be prone to failure... MSD, Jacobs, Taylor, Etc...
