thats what i was trying to say , (about reverse flow cooling)
The bleeder on the thermo housing should be bled first. The unfortunate part about the process is that the coolant will leak directly onto your opti-crap.
stuff a towel inbetween h20 pump and opti ( just to cover up a bit) wet nonvented opti + hairdryer= time of your day wasted jus to get car to run!
Good luck, and bleed the system in steps. It sounds funny, but even little bubbles in the system can hinder the flow. Trust me; I've been there recently.

so we replaced the thermostat, temp is still climbing. we checked the sender like you said and it seems to be fine. we checked fuses and relays and those look ok. we also know the fans are coming on. i do have an aftermarket electric pump. is it possible that it has gone out? the temp climbs fairly rapidly all the way to 260 so something is def going wrong
Fans DO work
Thermostat APPEARS to be working.
Valves WERE bled for air
Water pump?
