Help! Car almost exploded!
I was qorking on changing my 02 sensors when I got to the passenger side where I noticed I had to remove either the y-pipe or the started motor. I decided to remove the starter motor and when I undid the bolts the motor fell, hit the y-pipe and started sparking. When I mean sparking I don't mean a little spark, it was going crazy! I hit it quickly to stop the sparking then disconnected the negative battery cable (something I shoulda done from the start). I looked under the car and saw something leaking, it was transmission fluid! The spark was so strong it cracked the trans cooler lines ( at least thats what I think they are). I quickly cut me some rubber tubing, slip it inthe center, wrapped it around the leak and sealed it with hose clamps. It seemed to solve the problem for now but won't last. I have bought the pan gasket, filter and fluid and am planning to change the trans fluid. Des anyone have any suggestions on how to fix the tube? It feels likeit just has a small chunk taken out of it and is only leaking drop by drop. I think I will have to replace the line, but have no idea where to get one, how much they cost, or how to install it. Please, any suggestions would be great. Sorry for the long post!
I know, I was just supposed to screw off the old o2s and put in new ones. Little did I know, I ended up having to drop the starter motor, literately
. I forgot to disconnect it! Any fixes?

Just be glad that you weren't holding a piece of wire in your hands that happened to short circuit the terminals. I had a 1/4" depression in my thumb for about 2 months. Needless to say, I now unhook the battery for any engine work.
Quick fix for the tube....use a tubing cutter and completely cut the steel tube where the damage is. Slip length of rubber fuel tubing all the way onto one end of the steel tube then back in onto the second section. Install two hose clamps on each end and you are done. Second fix is more professional but requires a flairing tool. Install brass flair unions into the line but the rubber tube fix will suffice if you are in a pinch.
