Help!!! Big Piece Broken Off In Engine!!
Help!!! Big Piece Broken Off In Engine!!
Ok, I went to replace my low oil sensor today. Got everything out fine, no problems whatsoever. Drained the oil, pulled the filter, and then I removed the low oil sensor itself. I pulled it out carefully, and immediately noticed something didn't look right. I compared it to the new one I got from Dal, and it looks like a few things are missing from mine. There is a rod that goes into the oil pan, and on that rod there is a float looking thing, and some type of retainer to hold it onto the rod. I am missing that float thingy, and the retainer is missing. Are these things floating around in my engine, or was the factory 95 sensor different than the replacement? I did notice that the bolt thing on the outside of the oil pan, the part you wrench on is metal on the factory one, and the replacement was plastic. What gives? Do I need to pull my pan? This blows. HELP!!
I just replaced mine (95 as well), the one I took out looked just like the one I got from Jason Cromer. Maybe someone else will chime in with some better news, but it sounds like you've a little something extra in your pan.
Am I going to need to drop the pan? I don't really want this thing in my engine, however if it isnt hurting anything I could leave it. I have been driving around for a few days while the light is on so I think it is safe to assume that it broke then. Any other ideas on how I can get this piece out? thanks guys!
Is there any way I could flush it out? Not with water I know thats a bad idea, but use something to go in the drain plug hole and maybe flush it out the oil sensor hole? It's too big to go out the drain plug but it would fit out the other one. I really really really don't want to drop the pan right now. Actually, at all. Anyways, whats the worst that could happen if I leave it in there? It's 2 pieces of plastic. Thanks guys.
