After removing my steering column I noticed that my airbag light is on and my stereo buttons don't work. What could I have broken?

 

The wires are either not plugged in or got cut some how.

 

You messed up the clockspring or have a bad connection. I would look in the clockspring area for the problem.

 

no, all the wires are plugged in and working fine. I think I broke something in the upper portion of the steering wheel, it must be from spinning it when it was disconnected from the linkage. What is this clock spring? Where is it located?

 

If you spun the steering wheel while the column was out of the car, you probably damaged the SIR coil. Turning the wheel when the column is out is a big no-no.

 

Yeah I did it alot and I think I hear something snap. Thanks man. Whats the SIR coil and how do I fix it?

 

Item 3 in this diagram. Looks like you will have to pull the steering wheel and replace it.

 

I see the exposed view of the steering column on your home page, looks like a pain in the @ss. How much would this cost to have done?
