Ok guys i was offered a complete rear from this car. It has an eaton posi rear and it has 3.73 gears. He is giving it to me for 400 dollars. It has been used for 1000 miles thats in. He says the gears whine after 80 mph but only on deceleration. They are broken in. I was wondering if the install would be hard or can i do it myself. Because if i got gears and replaced mine it would be around like 500 bucks to buy them and install them. Can you guys please help me with instalation and such.

 

You don't want to buy used gears. That's a no no. Yes gears are a pain in the butt to install, but I would suggest not buying the used gears. Those 1000 miles could have been at the track, or he could have beat the crap out of his car. Gears are very important and why risk getting broken ones, or breaking them later on.

 

If you wanna buy them, tell the guy you're gonna take them to a mechanic first to check them out and make sure everything is OK...

 

Im not just buying the gears. He is sending me the whole rear. The eaton posi rear will help out with traction a lot. And its not like im putting high pressure he broke them in. And wrecked his car a couple weeeks later. He never got to race them. The gears arent comming out of the rear. If i buy the whole unit will it be a hard installation?
