Help! 94-95 LT1 Starter Question

The run down is I have an 88 camaro that we took a 94 Caprice lt1 engine and put in my camaro. My starter that came with the engine has been smoking and is now dead.

Is there a different in 94-95? I know when I look up 94 Caprice its like 149.99 would have to be ordered but a 95 camaro is only 122.99 and its in stock. I know the 94 weighs 10.5lbs and the 95 weighs 8.4lbs. Any other differences? Do I have to get the Caprice one since this is a custom job and a camaro??

Thanks

Re: Help! 94-95 LT1 Starter Question

I am pretty sure that the Camaro starter will work. My friend has an LT1 Caprice and his starter is identical to mine. Also, if you need a starter I have an LT4 starter that would probably work for you. i will sell it for 140 shipped if your interested. It is new in the box, I thought I needed it but the problem turned out to be the alternator.

On another note, if you didnt want to buy it from me, Jason Cromer can get you one for about 160 shipped, direct from a dealership parts dept.

Oh thanks for your reply.. Their different in weight.. I think the Caprice is heavier duty since its on police cars.. I got my starter well when I got it I had it for like 5-6 months and I some how broke it in half.. So I took it back and my hubby pulled his off the 95 z and it works better then the new one I had.. lol

Lol, this thread is Uber Old

We actually had to use the Z28 starter from my car because noone can grasp the concept that the starters they were selling us only had 9 teeth. We need 12 !
