As far as the steering knuckle goes, you might want to make sure those headers are designed for LT1? Ive never heard of that problem before. As far as the gear goes, it sounds like the gears werent set up right. If they whine now, they will whine forever. All aftermarket gears will whine just a little. Use your judgement and maybe take it back to the installer and have them look at it. Good luck.

As posted, if you don't have the gears adjusted correctly they will always whine. Annoying to most.

You can loosen the two bolts that hold the steering shaft and move it whichever way gives more clearance.

Just grind off the tabs on the steering knuckle, that should give you more clearance. If it is really interfering than you may have to get another one from JetHot (I'd hate to have to reinstall the driver side though!)

My friend's car had a v6 steering rack and that was his problem as for you if your car has been wrecked and it has been replaced for any reason that might be the problem if not im outta ideas except alot of cars the headers have to be dented to fit properly of its not too much of a dent u might try that.

You might also want to check out the statis on your motor mounts. I have heard that over time ours tend to sag and cause problems with clearance between the steering nuckle and headers. I don't know if yours haven't already been replaced but to replace the two, I think, is only around 40-50bucks.

Good luck.

A lot of times they will look like nothing is worn on them, but over time the rubber gets weaker and will allow the motor to sag more than it is suppose to. If you don't want to dent you headers up to make them fit I would try replacing the mounts with the energy suspension ones first. Just my .02.
