Hella driving lights
I installed a new set of 55 watt Hella FF75 driving lights today. They are a huge improvement over the stockers! Much whiter and brighter than the headlights. For those who have trouble seeing at night with stock lighting, you should consider these.
Do you mean to say they are a hella good driving light? Actually, I find driving lights useless because they illuminate the road way too close to the car. If you are looking where they are (usually) aimed, you aren't looking far enough ahead. And if they are aimed further down the road, the glare will serve to annoy other drivers as the beam pattern is so broad.
I might install some though to annoy other drivers with "driving lights", so thanks for the tip.

Where did you buy them?
EDIT: I answered some of my own questions, but have some more
.Why did you go with the FF75s? It looks like the FF50s are a bit brighter...
Looks like it is a complete light assembly. Did it mount in the stock location easily, or did you have to fab it up? Any pics?

.
I chose them because their dimensions are similar to the stock driving lights and I've had Hella lights before and their quality is good. I made a pair of mounts from sheet aluminum. Installing them was fairly easy. With the mounts I made I did not have to do any cutting on the car. They come with a nice wiring harness with a relay and fuse. I used the stock lights power for the relay. I got them online at Partsamerica.com. Pics when I can borrow the camera...
Re: Hella driving lights
Any chance you can give more information or design info on those mounts? Are they just for the fog or can be used on the stock LB/HB area? I would be will to buy them to save messing up the car.

Re: Hella driving lights
Man, you dug up an old post!
I made the mounts from flat aluminum stock, about 1/16" thick. I got it at a local metal surplus store.
Each bracket has 3 holes in it. 2 to mount to the car and 1 for the light mount. Each bracket is around 4 inches square. Match the 2 chassis mount holes to the stock brackets and figure out the 3rd by trial and error. I made one bracket first to figure out the actual hole placement and then used it for a pattern to make the 2 brackets to actually mount the lights.
I have a table top bandsaw to cut the aluminum, but you can also use a sabre saw or a hacksaw. A drill and a file and some spray paint will finish the job. I fine tuned the light position in the bumper with washers at the mounting points as needed.
