i told you.........jack the car up high, make sure you put blocks behind your wheels and jack it up from the K member.....thats all, and get a floor jack and put some wood on it so you can have it jacked up high, or try to even take it to a shop...

...Gee, you guys seem to have alot of problems with LT's...My MAC headers fell into place ...But then again, they're "slow" mid length headers

Frank, you should do talk alot of smack about LT's for never having them on your car.....

I think you should try a set, cause It's going to be funny when you gain another 30HP....

Try putting them in from the bottom as these guys have already stated. Most LT's will go in much easier that way. Also, you may only need to jack the motor up ~2"... I have always found that anything more than that will make it harder to go in. You just want to give enough room to slip the flange up and into place... jacking the motor too high may cause more problems by getting the body and subframe in the way of where you need the header to go. Just take some time, they will go in. You just have to find that sweet spot and they will just pop right into place.

Oh and as already stated you need just about 2 feet under the car to angle the header the right way.... andthing less and the collector will hit the ground before you clear everything else. Just be safe about it, use jack stands and blocks under the stands.

yeah my slow SLP headers the passengers side practically fell into place. The drivers side, thats another story...but I still didn't have to jack up the motor or get the car 2 feet in the air

pass side jet hot longtube went in very easily....

1. car was 22" from kmember to ground
2. both motor mounts loose, tranny mount loose (so it dont break)
3. jack the motor up until the bellhousing touchs the firewall
4. starter,oil dipstick, alt off

it should slide right in no problem.....

my driver's side was just as easy also
just take out the driver's side engine cradle (3 bolts)

it is a PITA but what i did was ...

took a big old shirt and put it on the header to protect the coating from getting scratched up ( also helps it slide in )

Get the car high enough to litterally be able to stand the header on end under the car

Now take the header and try putting it in thier while it is basically standing up ( maybe some of an angle ) and it will get stuck a little but with a little wiggling / moving of the header while you apply upward force it will go in.

LT's vs. Mid length dyno comparison...Right out of CAR CRAFT.

http://www.geocities.com/max_wylde/dyno.html

The mid lengths make 23 more HP on the top end.

We don't drive carb'ed small blocks, use hedman headers, or use 1 5/8 primaries in out long tubes. That comparison is worthless in the case of the LT1

I took both in through the bottom. Pass. side I jacked up around ~32" or so; slipped right in.

I only removed the starter and oil tube.
