Question Heater Core Removal - Write-up/Pictures?

Got the engine out and doing quite a few changes to my slug...

Does anyone have a write-up or pictures of the removal of a Heater Core on a 4th Gen?

Thank you...

Well I don't have a write up but I can tell you how I did it.

Just disconnect the lines in the engine bay that connect to the metal pipes of the heater core going into the cabin. (there are 2).

Then go in the cabin and pull the glove compartment door so it opens all the way to the floor (there are small stoppers on the back part of the compartment). Then take off the plastic cover under the glove compartment area. I think there's another plastic cover covering the heater core, unbolt that. (it will be obvious, it's the only thing in there.) Once you remove that, just unbolt the medal clips holding the core in place and pull it out through the opening under the glove compartment.

It's easy man...

Easy...in the mind of the beholder.

I just can't seem to figure it out.... There's another screw holding it in place and it seems that it's at the top...can't figure out how I'll get to it unless I remove the dash, but it sounds like there's no need for that and can't figure out even if I did get that screw out how I'll be able to get the whole piece out of such a tight area.

I'll see if I can take some pics later today and post them up so you can point things out to this knuckle-head.

Thanks...

Exclamation

Hey Mark? What happened to Speedy anyway? Why's the motor out?

I guess while the motor's out you could just cut through the firewall and pull the core out that way

Hey buddy....I need your number because I head out to Carlsbad quite freguently and we could meet up for a beer.

Well, I had 30% blow by on my #4 cylinder and there were some major mods that I had planned on for the end of this race season...well, just happened that I got motivated and yanked the motor early for the mod fest.

You can see the upcoming mods at www.F-BodyHideout.com/speedy click on Modifications and scroll to the bottom of the page.

I'm still working out the details on the motor. I've got an LT4 4-bolt main block just waiting for me to figure out what to do with. Will definitely go stroked this go round and forge the entire rotating assembly.

My goal for this season is to be tuned in and run in the 9s. I want to be one of the few out there who are an LT1/LT4 4th Gen convertibles running 9s. It's a big goal, but not one out of reach.

K, got rid of the heater core....but now I'm trying to get rid of this entire system in the block box for the A/C.

If anyone has done this or has information for me on it....please post a response with it.

Thank you...

And for what it's worth to the rest of you, I did manage to find a small write-up on the removal of the Heater Core:
