would it be easier to install headers the same time as putting on new heads? Since everything is off anyways?

 

I don't know about the "easier" part; but, it would be a good time to add headers when you reassemble the top. It's also a good time to do 1.6 roller rockers if their in your plans and budget.

 

If you go with longtubes, you could set the headers in from the top and tie them back before putting the heads on. That way you don't have to jack the car up to the moon to get them in. Other than that, I don't see how doing one before the other is going to matter; labor speaking.
