Heads/Cam Emisions check

Okay, will a 306 cam pass emissions?? I was thinking about modding my Z with heads and cam package, do I need to worry about emisions if I got a huge cam and heads and its running really clean, like burning up all the fuel? If I mod a 97 Z with the ODB-II do they just plug it in to do the test and see if it flips any codes or do they put the wind up to it and stuff?? Its in Ohio if that matters... Just checkin to see what you guys think before I start spending money! if I do have to worry about emmisions, whats the best heads and cam combo to get that would give me the most HP/TQ but that would still pass?? Just wondering what you guys think!! Maybe I should just move to a state w/o emissions just for my car, lol.

If you dont have a sniffer test it will pass with programming.

Re: Heads/Cam Emisions check

I'm not sure about Ohio but in Maryland where I live all they did on my 97 SS was scan the computer for codes. And I didn't even remove my Hypertech programming and I passed so I would assume if you heads/cam setup doesn't throw misfire codes via the CPS then you should be fine.
