GMPP guide plates

Everyone here seems to highly recomend the GMPP guideplates over aftermarket brands. Just courious why. I just received mine in the mail, and they don't seem to be anything special.

Also, can I use my stock screw in studs with the guide plates? Or is the thread length insuficient.

Thanx

Re: GMPP guide plates

They are just different enough to give better alignment. I would not use the stock studs, because the stud threads going into the head are pretty short already.

Re: GMPP guide plates

Because unlike the standard SBC, the LT1 has a .050 wider offset for the pushrods. The GMPP guideplates are dead on for these.

http://shbox.com/1/guideplate_compare.jpg -- This is a direct installed comparison shot comparing the GMPP to the Combination Motorsports plates, with the combo plates being specifically designed for the LT1 also. Obvious differences there.

http://community.webshots.com/photo/...47075942zoPQSe -- This is a shot of a GMPP Guideplate against a Comp Guideplate, which is supposedly designed for the LT1. Notice anything?? (GM Plate is on top)

Many thanks to you guys who took those pictures I'm referencing.
